I was starting my winter project which was to drop the fuel tank and replace hoses. After I got the spare tire out of the way I moved on to a large flat bar that had a box on top of it. It was bolted to the frame and sat between the fuel tank and body. This assembly must have weighted 75 lbsShocked.  The box measured 26" long 3" wide and 4" tall. It was made by Safety Auto ControlConfused. Based on the patent info I found, it is some kind of a guys wild attempt at stability control. I wonder how many people got suckered into this thing. I will post some pictures once I get my cameras batteries charged.

Amazing, Glen.  Just think of the weight you'll save by removing that thing.   Some people will try anything, I guess.

Now I'm curious.  It sounds like a unit my Dad bought and put in his 68 Rebel station wagon.  Oddly enough, that darn thing did actually work!  You could clearly feel when the back of the wagon started to kick out, the box would snap it back.  It felt strange.  It was not smooth.  It was not high performance.  But it did work. 
On the "Tail of the Dragon"
(some day, no strike that, October 2008 it turned red, still in progress!)

The box is mounted to the flat bar. The flat bar is bolted to the frame rails. Nothing else is attached. If you look at the link in the first post all that is in the box is a weight and some springs. When I first saw it in place I though it might have something to do with emissions. But then I could not find any hoses. It also did not quite look factory so I thought someone maybe used it to haul contrabandConfused. When I started to pull it out I could believe how heavy it was so maybe some one packed it with gold coinsBig%20smile. Now I find it is a very important safety deviceLOL
