which tires??????

hello everyone,
my tires on my 74 454 are about gone, just wondering what you guys think is a good tire out there. I am looking at the goodyear eagle GT2's or firestone 500's or bfgoodrich radial ta. I want a good traction tire that also lasts well. I was thinking of upgrading the size to 255 60 15's. Any help you guys have would be appreciated. Thanks

p.s. i also need a good speed rating, the 454 moves right along, mid 140's

The B.F. Goodrich tires are great tires! I have the Radial TAs on my truck ( 275/60/15) and they handle great, are quiet and wear well. Some friends of mine have the TAs on their C3s ( 255/60/15) and they really like them as well. One of my friends put two sets of Goodyear Eagle GT IIs on his C3 and had trouble with them slipping on the rim ( Couldn't keep them balanced). I'm not knocking Goodyear as I have Eagle 1s on my Vette and love them. Just letting you know what to look for. I have never heard anyone complain about B.F.G.s. Good luck.

i got the firestone firehawk ss20 255 60 15 and im very happy with them priced good and handle good too.

I've had BF Goodrich Radial T/A's on three cars including my '70 Vette - 245/60/15's, and they are definitely the way to go. Reasonably priced, quiet, good ride and they last. I've had Good Year's on a few cars and they are just not the best tires out there. Right now I have factory installed Eagle LS - 275/55/20's - on my truck and two went completely bald in 16,000 miles and the other two are on the way out. Go with the Goodrich's...

I had the same problem deciding which tire to get for my 73. I almost went with Goodyear. Did some research and found Most People with Corvettes and Street Rods like the BF Goodrich. I went with the BFG's and am very pleased with the handling and ride. Not only that they were about 100 bucks less!!! SAVTHEWAV

I too have the BF Goodrich T/A's on my 80, and are the best tyre I've had on there so far. 275/60's on the rear and 255/60's on the front.

Why did you go with the 275's on the back? I was thinking of doing this but i thought it might look funny on a corvette. How does it look? I was considering 275's because all my car does is spin, anyone got any ideas? Thanks

I actually downsized on the back,used to have 295/50's but alas got pinged by the cops for tyres outside the bodywork. The setup now looks awsome and don't seem to have any handling problems.

I think the BFG TA's are the only tire that looks right. I went with the 245 X 60 replaced my 18 year old 225 X 15 GoodYear St tires. Great handling and ride. Bought them at the Tire Rack for $69 plus shiping + a free gift.
