I've been sprayin down the bolts & nuts to the body mounts to replace those rubber bushings. I hate to do these because I just know that it isn't going to go well. So be it, I know in the long run who is going to be the victor!
I probally should be painting like you are now while the weather is warmer. That way it won't take 2 hours for the garage to warm up. Unfortunitly I have other agenda items that prevent me from doing this.
What type of black paint are you putting on? I usually use Rustoleum Indutrial Machine Gloss Black. I like it because it has a rust inhibitor and it comes in a pint and a spray.Yours looks to have a nice gloss to it.
What sheild is it that you lost? Is it something that rusted & fell off or did it have some help from a parking block, chuckhole, or your average 100 mi. jaunt down the road?
After scraping the loose rust, dirt and undercoating off, washing and drying all the metal, I used Rustoleum primer and then two coats of Rustoleum Black Gloss. It's an oil base. I wanted to use a semi-gloss, but Home Depot didn't have any. It's not as glossy as the pictures would have you believe.

As for the shield, go to this
thread.
Getting too far off topic here.
