I was wondering if these were different engines of different "intake/exhaust/muffler" setups...
any info would be interesting and informative to the list.
thanks.

L82 has a 4-bolt mainbearing caps...L48 has 2-bolt mains, forged crank (L48 has cast crank), different intake, higher compression, different model Q-Jets. Depending on model year, the L48 has a single inlet air cleaner, the L82 dual inlet. Other differences but these are the major ones.

I dont mean to offend anyone...  but neither one was very impressive in power...

if youre looking to buy either an l-48 or l-82 car..  I wouldnt worry about it..  youll need to tweak either one to make it respectable by modern standards and either one is a decent platform to build from.

I have a stock L48 except for true duals which gives a couple of extra ponies. But definitely needs a lot more!

I, personally have fallen in love with the stock 1978 - 1982 series. Of course you big block guys have gotten use to some awesome power but when you step from almost any other car into a C-3, even late 1970's, it feels as though your on top of the world. I constantly find people riding my bumper and I don't know why until I check the speedo, OOPS.... 45 mph, funny, I was flying down this road, in heaven,of course I live in Northern California and the roads are some of the best in the world . ( For corvette or motorcycle driving that is ).
