Thanks Frank. My son and girlfriend are home for the week. He figgered out how to get it on. Over my head.  Did you friend ever sell that beautiful '70 I saw when I was there?

On the u-joint subject, which is better, greasable or non greasable. Is there much difference between 'Corvette Catalog' type  and local parts shops u-joints?

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

Get the non-greasable u-joints. They are stronger, due to not having holes drilled all the way thru them. Spicer has "Brute Force" u-joints. Can get them at most decent parts houses. Anything you order from the catalog people will be the same as what you can buy at AutoZone, Pep-Girls, etc.

Almost anything you buy at your local auto parts store will be less expensive than in the Corvette catalogs.I get almost all my Generic parts at the local auto-zone down the street, only use the catalogs for the parts I can't get down town.I just ca'nt see paying those higher prices for the same stuff I can get down the street ,for less money, call me CRAZY

Nothin' crazy about that Ron. I just lean more towards O'Reillys than Auto Zone. Usually have better prices and quality. We'd REALLY be in the hole if we bought everything from the catalogs. That's why I asked. I've found, like you, most of it is just about the same. Cheaper and no shipping!

Hey Joel. Are you sure that Spicer makes the 'Brute Force' u-joints? I couldn't find them last nite on their site.

No, I'm not sure. They are made by a company called "Neapco", or sumpthin like that. They are available from NAPA, I am sure of that. You really just need to get joints that do not have grease fittings, reguardless of who makes them. I know the ones I put on the '74 were Brute Force, I jes don amember where I gots them.
