Joanne,
I just did this and wanted AirGap, RPM or Vortec and according to my supplier they would not fit. Typically, a good tech sales staff can tell you what will or won't fit. I have an 81 and probably the same hood, but I would suggest calling them.
Good luck, Gurtz

About the only Edelbrock intake that will fit with the stock hood would be the Performer or Performer EPS. The Edelbrock catalog states the RPM and others won't fit under a stock Corvette hood. The EPS is optimized to be used with the Edelbrock Performer square-bore carbs. The Performer is designed for square-bore or spread-bore carbs.
What you can do if you have a clearance issue is use a drop base air cleaner. I believe many have done that without a problem.
Cylinder heads shouldn't make a difference clearance-wise. Just make sure you get a camshaft, heads and intake all designed to work together so they won't be mismatched.
You can always call or e-mail Edelbrock, Summit Racing or Jeg's with specific questions regarding fit, performance, etc. They'll give you options to consider.

The Edelbrock Performer 2101 intake manifold is an assured fit.
