Vette(s): My 1974 Vette sold last August 2014. I am still willing to show up to events and local gatherings if anything happening No new vette yet.
Hi everyone.
I have a question. On my vette the weights are on my rims in the exact same spot as the clips for my hubcaps. I was told there was a different type of weight i could get put on but usually only at the dealer. Is this true? Any suggestions? i have all the wheels re-balanced and it keeps coming up on all four wheels right where a clip is supposed to be for my hubcaps. I can't turn the hubcaps as the valve stem comes up through the hubcap itself through a hole so they are meant to go in one spot and not adjustable.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

They put the stick-on weights on the inside of my TTII wheels and can't be seen from the outside. Work great and there would be no interference with your caps on the outside.

The factory had the same problem at times....here's what you can suggest the balancing feller do. Take whatever weight is needed in that spot, divide that by 2, and put a 1/2 weight on either side of the clip.

The factory was supposed to not put ANY weights on the outside of the rims at all, but sometimes, that's the only way it could be done.
You might also try swapping the trim rings from one rim to another...you might have one that the clip is in a slightly different location, and that may allow it to fit....ya never know.

Have stick-on weights on all the custom wheels in the family fleet. Also had them put on the refinished snowflakes for "BIGBRRD" and on the stock wheels of "The Beast".
The only issue so far has been when I have them rebalanced the shop doesn't always remove all the leftover residue from the previous weights. Just looks kind of tacky when I have a wheel off for any reason. Touch it with a little solvent and it cleans right up.

One other way is to have them deflate and break the bead, rotate the the tire 1/4 turn, reinflate and rebalance the tire. I have had to do this when mounting tires many years ago.

I have always had my weights on the inside of the rim.
And it makes the wheel look a lot cleaner too.
