Vette(s): Dark green 1979 with "not quite stock" 1971 motor.

For years I've heard that only Weiand had an intake manifold that mounted the carburetor low enough to clear the stock C3 hood.  Now I hear about Edelbrock, and even GM having good aluminum intakes.  I have searched many forums, including this one for an answer, but I am starting this new thread because I don't want to be getting seventeen-year-old information.  I am going to keep the stock QJ.  I'm using a set of ported GM ZZ-3 heads, and a Comp flat tappet street cam, headers and 3" pipes to the rear.  What manifolds have you actually used and recommend for the change?

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.

Mornin,  I think the year of the car, and style of hood is the answer. My 72 will not accept a aftermarket intake. At least not the one that will fit under the 75 hood. I also know that a Holley will not fit on the offenhauser under the hood on the 75. I have not tried BB hoods of any style. I have Baby SBC power.

My '75 has an Edelbrock Performer dual-plane manifold (though not for the spread-bore carb.) and with a 1/2 inch spacer, there is still about 1/2 inch clearance above the drop-style air cleaner to the hood.

I forgot to include: it's a 1979 with 350 small block and stock hood.

Thanks

Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary. Restored in 2012. All new 'complete' suspension f & r, engine, trans, exhaust, interior. Car is driven - garage kept but not a trailer queen.

In my 1978, I run a Edelbrock Performer with the original (rebuilt, re-tuned) Q-Jet with a drop-over air filter base, open 3" filter and chrome top.  No issues with hood clearance.
