Vette(s): 1982 Bright Blue Corvette Coupe, 5.7L 350 V8 w/ a performance chip & 160-degree fail-safe thermostat, K&N filters, Hedman Headers & a tru-dual exhaust w/ Borla tips. Turbo-700 has a B&M Shift Kit & rear end has 3.73 posi-gears.

In ref to water pumps....how would I find out if the water pump on my 1982 Corvette has "short legs" or "long legs"?? Any help would be appreciated!

Application charts I've seen specify short water pumps for C3's with a small block. Some even specify a particular part number for Corvettes, but what the difference is I don't know...maybe different impeller or a heavy duty bearing, but the fit is the same.

Vette(s): 1972 Coupe Anything, but Stock and more mods to come! SSBC Force 10 Brakes, 3.73, TH350, 355 CID, Rack and Pinion, Vette Brakes suspension front and rear.

There are actually three lengths, short, long and corvette. Corvette water pumps are slightly different.

They measure the following from the front face of the engine block to the front face of the water pump hub/fan mount.
SB short style 5.625
sb long style 6.90
sb corvette style 5.80
bb short 5.75
bb long style 7.28

Also note that corvette style water pumps are know to have a 3/4" fan locator and shaft. I would check the locator size on your fan to make sure it measures 3/4". The larger shaft is also stronger.
