My 72 LS5 has no vacume line to the trans. I think it should come of the intake but there is no tube or anything. I saw in a catalog that they sold a special tube with an orifice at one end. I have no idea about this and I can't find anything in any of my books about it. Don't they usually just have a simple vacume line to the modulator valve. I need to get this done so I can drive it to Hot Springs in April.

There is no need for an orificed tube for the trans. You can get a section of regular 1/4" steel tubing(brake line), and bend it to fit. They sell it in certain lengths at most parts houses. Around 3' should be plenty.
The mod. line should connect directly to a fitting on the intake manifold, not from the carb. There is usually a fitting at the rear of the intake for this, as well as the headlight/wiper vacuum. If your engine doesn't have a fitting with two(or more) nipples, you may need to replace it with one that does.

Thanks Joel;
I did put the double vacume fitting on when I was working on the engine, so I will stop and pick up some tubing.
