Upper A-arm bushing

Well today the driver side front upper A-arm bushing came out and the A-arm moved into the Spal fan shroud. Made for a slow drive back home because the car wanted to make left turns. 
Another project I don't have time for.

Shocked Came out, or wore out?! Did the rubber just fail, or did the bolt come out of the end, and the bushing walk it's way out?
Either way...it'll ruin yer day, right? Stoopid bushings....Censored

How long have they been in? Can you post a pic of what happened. Thats a strange one if it pushed out instead of as Joel said wear out. Hope it didnt cause to much damage for you. I another one of them I dont have time jobs but you'll find a way to make time that you dont have! Best of luck

Bolt and washer came out and let the rubber work out. Funny thing is that the rubber was pinched between the end and the fan shroud so I still have it.
I had them replaced about 15 years ago. I replaced the lower a-arm bushing on that side last fall for the same reason.

I marked my bolts & a-frame with paint so I can see if they start to move. Good luck with the repair.

Problem solved.
Thanks for the input, it was very helpful. I put a little Lock-tite on the threads this time.

The bushings were rubber and were installed on the car about 14 years ago by a repair shop.
The problem was the front bolt backed out of the rod allowing the a-arm to move forward enough that the rear bushing came out of the a-arm and the front rubber bushing came out of the shell. 
It took me about 3 hours to pull the a-arm out, re-install new bushings, and put it back together. 
The only damage that was done is the arm cracked the fan shroud but not enough to hurt anything.

Was there lock-washers on the bolts? There should be. Anyway, glad ya got it back together.Thumbs Up
