Wow, installed TRW 340# rear spring last week and can't believe the ride. I had the 7 leaf before and with Louisiana roads being ranked worst in the country it was pretty rough riding. I got the new spring for Christmas and just got time to install it. If I had known it made this much difference I would have done it years ago. So far have driven about 150 miles it's settled about one inch. Rank this mod right up there with the 5-speed.

The 340# is not too harsh? Did you go with the gas shocks, also?

Previous owner had installed delco shocks. I thought I might have to change to something newer (performance shock) but they are doing fine. Can actually feel car float instead of a jolt on overpasses.

The spring definitely makes a difference. Nice ride by the way!!

Geez, if you can't feel the bumps, you might as well be driving a Caddy.

Glad you like the new ride. No more rattlin teeth.

I've been thinking about putting a glass spring in my 73. I replaced the steel spring 3 years ago and put Grand Touring coils in the front. It handles great. I'm wondering how it will handle with a glass spring and what rate should i use?

My hesitation in going to the glass spring was not knowing witch one to get. I read as many posts as I could find here and google searches. Decided 340# was in the middle. It's so much better than the 7 spring. Car still stays flat when turning side to side.
