OK, I know what an automatic is and I know what a manual is but what is an "Auto. Trans w/mild shift kit" I have seen this shift kit listed on a few cars but have no clue what it is. Confused dsireme2008-06-25 13:10:44

A "Shift Kit" is designed to firm up the shifts on an automatic trans. It makes the shifts quicker, and in most cases, firmer also.
The term "Shift Kit" is actually a registered trademark of Trans-Go Inc., a company that does a LOT of R&D on fixing transmission problems. A "Shift Kit" doesn't always mean the trans will bang your head off when it shifts, but they do normally shift a little better than stock. It all depends on the brand/type of kit installed.

It's usually a special made plate that replaces the stock one in the valve body of the tranny.it reroutes the fluid to give different pressures to the clutches to give different shift patterns or more powerful shifts to the transmission. Adams Apple is our resident Tranny GURU ,and he can add more details LOL

And here I thought it might be something that was an automatic where you can kind of do a stick shift type thing with it. D'oh!
