Well, after 12 hours laying on my back, under my car, the transmission and clutch are back where they belong.  I had the transmission completely overhauled.  The shop replaced gears, countershaft, shift forks, you name it.  Now it stays in gear, and doesn't vibrate like tractor.  I went with a high performance zoom clutch, seems to work really well.  The underside of my car looks really good now, since I cleaned and painted that while I was down there.  Boy was the shift linkage a pain, the bolts that hold it to the bracket are rough, no space to work in, and big hands...tough job.  Now I just have to get some mufflers since no one around here appreciates open pipes.
