All 4speeds would have the welded xmember...autos had removable ones. SOME of the late Sharks (80-81) may have had removable xmembers/4speeds, tho...I'm not 100% sure on that. ALL automatics had removable xmembers.
If your frame has the bracket on it for the clutch cross-shaft ball, it was originally a 4 speed car/frame.

Vette(s): 1969 coupe 350/350 m-20 originally cortez silver with gunmetal interior. currently in about a thousand pieces
well i've been researching this here at work, through my tech guys and the chevrolet line drawings it looks as though the automatic trans mount bolts directly to the crossmember while the 4 speed mount seems to be farther foward on the transmission requiring the use of the trans mount bracket, so the auto crossmember does'nt kave the lower tabs welded to them, so i guess i have to flip the old frame over and grind off the mount tabs and weld it to my auto crossmember. Ijust Knew this would be harder than it sounded but then so has everything else so far. oh well it'll be worth it if I ever get this body back on the frame.  thanks for everyones help
