I would not recommend reprograming the computer unless first adding the shift kit or otherwise beefing the transmission. This is even more important on front wheel drive cars. The timing is dropped to not only control traction, but to keep from blowing the transaxle. The extra trans work will usually prevent this, and give very good response.
