Hello all, I am trying to remove the rear trailing arms to repair and rebuild them. I have the outer cotter key of the bolt and the crown nut off but, I'm not able to get the main front bolt out. I have tried using a wrench to try and unthread them out and a puch and hammer to try and drive them out but, not able to get them out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Vince, hi my name is Phil-Flandy. I'm the handling moderator as well as susp. mod. I do this work for spending cash, and I'd recommend that you get a good quality rust penetrant, like pb-blaster. Then soak that bolt down as often as you can for at least a day, then they should be easier to remove. Redid mine and that's what I did, and they came out easily. Good luck-let me know if you need further help

Thanks Flandy I will give it a shot. If all else fails we may have to get out the saws all but, I hope not.

I ordered the vido from Van Steel, they took a "gorilla bar" type pry bar and put a notch in it, after they got the bolt out a little, they put the notch under the bolt head and pryed it out.
Good Luck,

Thanks for the insight everyone. I figured it would be one of those intimate moments LOL!!!
I have sprayed them down twice tonight with PB Blaster and I will do it again in a few min. Then again in the morning. Then in the afternoon I will give it a try with a pry bar. If all else fails then I will get out the sawsall.
I still love my vette!

Soaked mine in PB Blaster for a week before....several times a day. I was scared to death that they would not come out and leave me with a big mess to deal with somehow. Had the sawzall ready. But, the things surprized me and came right out! The shims were a solid cake of rust and looked hopeless. Used an air chisel with a pointy end on it and the bolts punched out just hammerin' a bit on the bolt ends. Getting everything back in is the HARD PART.....wrong length bolts for the spring, PITA spring , the cover broke off at one end.....yada yada, had to yank it out again, looks nice now....good luck and take yer time
