Trailing Arm wheel bearings

Any one have any experience with replacing these bearing and setting
them up?

I'm having brake problems and it seems that my right rear bearing is wore
out and causing the rotor to longer run true.   This is causing air to be
pumped into the brake system through the caliper piston. Other than the
bearings, the trailing arms are in great shape.

I rebuilt mine. Its not to hard but does take a few special tools. Here is a site that shows the process. When you shim the bearing try and get it down to .001" to .003" end play. http://www.montygwilliams.com/rearbearings.html

The hardest part of this job is getting the old assy apart. You need a press, but there are other tools that will separate the spindle from the bearing carrier. If you're not mechanically inclined, or are not sure you can do this job, it's best left to a pro, or buy rebuilts. This is one job you don't want to do but once!

I set mine up, but it wasn't easy. Use of a setup tool will help a lot, makes it easy to dis-assemble when trying different shims. You need to get those shimmed to .002" new as they will wear in to the reject distance of .008". If you have the patience, tools, and mechanical ability I would say go for it, otherwise send them in for rebuild. For what it's worth, I doubt the bearings will cause a rotor run-out issue though.

Since I don't have the tools to do this job, I'm going to take it in and have
it done. There is a place in Redford NY that will do it for $250.00 per
side.
