Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.

Here's an article that might help. It says torque @ 75 lbs.

thankz for the url ... one  thing though.. the u-bolt need at 15 ft.lbs and the driveflange at 75  :)

"To re-install the axle half-shaft, place the inboard u-joint into the rear end side yokes and assemble the u-bolts. Torque to 15 ft. lbs. Now install the outboard drive flange into place. Install the 4 bolts and locks and torque to 75 ft. lbs. "

The "outboard drive flange" is the piece that fits on the spindle, with a nut to hold it on. Then the mating flange(on the axle shaft) is bolted to that, with four bolt/nuts. They should indeed be torqued to 75 ft/lbs.

Make that 75 ft-lbs, not 75 lbs/ft.

Don't worry Joel, we all know what you mean.

I'm just a typo nut

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

Actually some publications do list it as lbs/ft.  That's not what we are used to in automotive, but some engineers and designers do use the designation.

Wait a minute!....I just stuck up for Joel....instead of whacking him.....

FORGIVE ME!
