I'm in the middle of doing an overhaul on my engine and need to purchase a stall converter in the 2700-3200 range. The only converters I've seen for my application have a 10.75 bolt pattern, but after measuring mine from bolt to bolt it measures 9.25. I've been told that it could be a lockup, but I'm unsure exactly what that means. I have a 1980 L48 engine and I believe a TH350. If ya got any info to pass on, it would be greatly appreciated.

A lock up convertor has a clutch assembely inside that applies to lock the converter in high gear. This prevents the converter from slipping at about a 6 percent rotational loss, which all converters do. By not losing the 6% you increase fuel mileage and reduce emissions. Some are computer controlled, some are just controlled by internal transmission pressures.
Check with Summit or Jegs, or perhaps World Transmissions, who builds and rebuilds transmissions and converters. You may need to use a different flywheel to get what you want.
