Sounds like just the one I need to hear from .... why are you going back to manual? since you had both, which did you like better and why? Thanks, Bruce

The car wanders around at highway speed with the power steering. It has about 1 inch of play around neutral on the steering wheel. With manual steering it used to be rock solid with no play. I have tightened up the steering box (both lash and preload) but it still has play. The problem may be my power valve, but since the car came with manual steering, and I drove it that way for 9 years and over 80,000 miles, I just want to put it back the way it was. I may regret it, but I am keeping all the pwr steering stuff, and can go back any time. Its just a small block with no air, no pwr brakes, no pwr anything. I bought it new with virtually no options since that was all I could afford at the time.
