I measured from the ground to the highest point on the wheel well it was 30.5 which is about 2.5-3 incher higher than it was I have not tightened the sping hanger bolts they are flush with the out side of the nut.
will that make much of a difference? SORRY THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO CONTINUE WITH MY OLD POST NOT START A NEW ONE

I believe if you tighten the outside end bolts, it will lower the car. Have you driven it yet to "set" the spring?

Don't know if this will help, but the specifications manual I received from Chevy on my 79 states the following for ground clearance:
Front bumper to ground - 10.8"
Rear bumper to ground - 11.8"
Bumper to ground - front at curb mass. (wt) - 11.1"
Bumper to ground - rear at curb mass. (wt) - 12.8"
Rear axle differential to ground - 5.7"
Min. running ground clearance - 4.3"*
*cat. conv. constitutes min. run grd. clear.
This is the only reference to ride height I can find.

Did tightening the outer bolts lower your rearend?
As you can see from my sig. that I have the same problem.
