Just in case it matters to anyone, the correct size for 72' was F70-15.

Vette(s): 1973 Orange Metallic Coupe (orig owner), L82, 4 spd (WR), PS, (A/C & PW (I installed from wrecked 73)), leather, AM/FM Stereo, ran with '65 FI unit earlier & will again some day. 2023 Accelerate Yellow HTC Stingray

And '73 correct size is GR70-15. First year for radials. Interestingly enough, the recommended tire pressure was 20 psi.

1973 L-82 4 spd

I remember the F70 - 15 tires. Wide Ovals comes to mind. The spare in mine was untouched since car was assembled. Looked pathitic compared to the new P225/70/15's

The tire store thought I was nuts ordering 5 tires. They screwed that up and only got 4, so I had to go back for the "full size spare". Haha

225x70 15 was the stock size in 72.  I run 235x60 15 on my car and in my spare tub.  They are a little smaller in diameter than the 225x70.

That is what is what I have on my 74 vert.    BFG Radial TA’s without Question 👌
