What is the largest tire that will fit on a stock 72 wheel and fender opening? Will a 245X60X15 fit? I have 225X70 X15 on the car now. I want the car to look as close to stock as possible and not mess up the speedometer reading.

If you don't want to mess up the speedometer, then you have to stick with exactly the same (original) height.

Changing the speedo gear is as simple as popping off the side cover on tranny and replacing the gear. Not a bad job at all

I have 245/60/15 's with shims for the Cragars. I was told (& I believe) that I could not go any wider than 245 without touching the wheel wells.

With BFG/TA's 235/60/15 there are no changes in speedometer readings and fender clearance is no problem. They don't like full throttle clutch dumps, but with a treadwear number of 480, they will last forever and are pretty inexpensive.
