Hi Bill
My 78 came with the 255-60-15 tire option and the front
wheel well lips were hand trimed at the factory for
clearance. I can't see that there would be a problem
unless you were in a real hard corner with weak front
springs.

Thanks Roy and Steve,
I will go with the 255/60/15 size and I am leaning toward the BFG TA's and a four wheel alignment. |cheers|

We have Goodyear P255/60R15 Eagle RH on my wife's 78. They run good, no problem with clearance, and don't know wet drives since she won't take it out in the rain. But the talk about BfG and Yoko's is interesting. I checked out tirerack.com and the prices are a lot cheaper than at the dealers here. will consider the Yokos when we need new tires. |cheers|

Well, It sounds like no one likes the GY eagle GT 2.AND NEITHER DO I !!!! I just got the car a few weeks ago and the rear tires were shot but the fronts were good and they were the eagle gt 2, so I wanted matching tires all around, and they suck in the rain and I can break the damn things free a little bit too easily via a heavy right foot. I have had 2 nissan Z's and tried Pirelli's, Dunlops, BFG, and Yokohama, all of which I recommend over the GY Eagle GT2. The Pirellis probably handled the best but for a combo of wear and performance and price I think the Dunlops were the better value.

Okay, I'll jump in on the end of this thread.

I have the BFG T/A P255/60R15. This is the best tire I've owned. GY was never good to me. These handle great, and aren't too bad in the rain.

I have had my 72 since 1986. I have always run BFG 275/50/15 on the rear and 265/50/15 on the front. These are on the original 8" Rally Wheels. They are great on wet or dry roads and last a long time. I recently added aPST G-machine suspension kit and it handles lile a go cart and still rides good.
Try it, you'll like it!

I've always like the BFG T/A's and had good luck with them. I think any tire will get loose in a C3 on a wet, "semi-smooth", curved road. In the fall of 1968, my cousin totaled (into a tree) a brand new '68 (with 20 miles on it) on a damp road.

Avoid driving in the rain. |no-no|

on my 79 i have COOPER cobra GTH 225/70/15 and they are ok, when dry (generaly all tires are ok on dry!) but on wet they are just ok !
But i think BF Goodrich are better ! but more expensive that COOPER (in france). It's not a problem because my vette generaly run in summer!

Ps: forget my front tires they are too bad when wet
