I had Goodyears on my '79 since new, but always had a balance problem. After changing to BFG 255/60R15s, runs smooth!
Now thinking about going to 16 or 17 inch wheels. Has anyone done this? Any problems or modifications needed?

I have the stock trailing arms and do not have any rubbing problems. Running the stock off set wheels. On the front there is a very slight rub on the inside but it does not affect the steerig or turning radius because it is at lock. I don't have headers, so i can't help you out on the clearance question.
I would like to get American Racing Daisys and use the same tires. Does anyone no of any caliper clearance problems with these? The installation catalog recommends checking caliper clearance.

NOTICED YOU INSTALLED 17" RIMS AND TIRES SO I'M TURNING TO YOU FOR SOME HELP.
I'VE GOT AN 81 AND I'M LOOKING AT 17X8 AMERICANS BUT COME TO A BRICK WALL WHEN IT COMES TO TITE SIZE.
IS IT BEST TO STAY WITH ONE THAT'S CLOSE TO STOCK HEIGHT OF 27.3 ?
ONLY 17' TIRE I'VE FOUND CLOSE @ 27 IS A 255X50

ANY INPUT IS WELCOME
THANKS
MIKE

I am glad I read all this as I was ready to buy a set of Eagle GT II's for my 74 coupe. It is going to be a pleasure driver and I am concerned as to what looks good on it. U all have convinced me to go with the 255/60 instead of the 225/70 as I like the wider tire also and I have 8" rims and was concerned bout clearance. Has anyone tried the Mastercraft Avenger GT or seen them? I can't make up my mind if they look right. I can buy them for $59 ea from my wholesaler. It seems that a vette looks best in a set of Eagles. Anyone tried the Eagle #1 NASCAR? I do like the Yoko's and they are a quality tire but can't make myself put a Japanese name on my American Classic. Not sure my wholesaler has a good source on the T/A's but I don't have a problem with them. I can buy so good from my guy so I am gonna try to buy what he can get me. Really would like opinions on the Avenger.

Ran mastercraft on my work car, seemed OK,NOT on my vette, I believe they are made overseas. Have ran BFG's, I prefer the Yoko's made in the USA and a better rain tire. I believe the Tire Rack has them for 56.00 ea.

I'm running the Cooper Cobras also, nice look, great when warm, but forget it cold. I will stick with them until the spring, and by then I will be looking to replace them. Nice suggestions from everyone. Ya gotta love this feedback. |headscratch|
