I need to get an idea of the time and labor costs for these items. Any help will be appreciated as is all the knowledge available. Just a general cost estimate would be great.
Basic info: 1980 L-48 stock Corvette.
Rebuild the automatic transmission with a new torque converter.
Rebuild rear end with new seals and bearings.
Replace all u-joints in the drive shaft and half shafts.
The transmission and rear end are out of the car.
Thanks Dennis B.

$5,000,000, plus parts...
(Just kiddin!)
Depends on who does the work, really, the general labor costs in your area.
Trans O/H(a good one, not your "neighbor's brother-in-law" job) on a piddly 350 shouldn't be more than $3-400 max, depending on if there is severe hard part damage or not. Torque converter prices are all over the place, depending on what ya want. Stock, high-stall, etc. Average around $100-$150 for stock. Time? 2, maybe three hours...
The diff might be a bit more, as it is a little more exacting in nature to build, and set-up correctly...maybe $500 max. Time? 4-5 hours, depending on what all is replaced. Replacing the gear set will add considerably to that.
U-joints shouldn't be much more than $30-$40 each shaft, if that much, plus the cost of the joints, unless you supply them yourself. Time? Couple hours max for all three shafts.
or...P/M me for my address, ship it all down here, and I'll give ya the "brother-in-law" discount!

Sounds like Joel is looking for work.
You find a better mechanic in Texas.
