hi everyone.
its me... question guy again....
anyway, i've been noticing something lately as i'm approaching a stop sign and i slow to a stop.
i hear a tick when i apply the brakes coming from the passenger side.  it stops if i let off.  i dont think its the emergency brake hangin up since i only hear it when i apply the  brakes.  its not constant.

any thoughts?
thanks!

jeff

Does it pull when you apply brakes and are holding the wheel lightly?

mmm...no it doesn't. no pull.
actually, if i press hard on the brakes the tick goes away.  i hear it as i'm regularly applying pressure.

that very well could be i suppose.  someone else told me to check that.  my front brakes are brand new.  i "thought" my back brakes were ok.  maybe they're not.. i guess i'll pull my back wheel and check it out.
i've heard of wear indicators but i thought they made a squealing sound.  so thats why i was asking.  maybe it is something that simple...?

Wonder if you have a piston stuck and its allowing the pads room to clack until they are seated against the rotors?

It could be the pad pin(s) rattling, or more correctly, the pads rattling on the pins. I would also double-check the wheel lugs to make sure they are nice and tight...don't want a wheel falling off...
Don't know if you have done anything with the rear hubs/spindle bearings lately, but....a spindle bearing that is just starting to fail can make a ticking noise that may go away with hard brake application.

Your right. And only quality pads are equipped that way. I'd look else where. Good luck.

as always...thanks guys!!
i'm leaning toward the rattling brake pads.  come to think of it if i hit a bump i can hear a rattle from the passenger side.  it quiets down if i hit said bump and press the brake.  i'll pull the passenger wheels and check it out.
