I've been thinking of installing a turbo on my 80 Vette. Right now the motor is stock. The 8.5 compression will work with the turbo but what about the bottom end? Any thoughts appreciated.

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
In 1980 Zora Duntov and American Custom Industries had plans to build 200 turbo charged Corvettes using the L-82 engine. They turned out to be no faster that the standard corvette and way less than 200 were ever sold.

Technology has come a LONG way since Zora tried the turbo stuff back then. I think there is a member here with one of those cars. I'm certain there are a couple with turbos set-ups, such as Gale Banks 80.

If I were going to do that, I think I would ditch the carb and go with an aftermarket fuel injection system like Holley.
