One more question, in the picture below two of the springs are missing from the piston spring assembly, this doesn't seem right but it also doesn't seem like it would be too much of a problem since they're across from each other.  Should I replace this part also?

Not a problem, Bryon. On some units, half of the springs will be removed. I normally will leave out every other one, depending on the total number that are there, and the intended use of the trans. On Granma's Caprice, I'll leave them all in...on Jr.'s Camaro(or a Corvette!), I'll take a few out. It quickens the "apply" of the clutch-pack. You're doing good...no reason to panic...yet...
