How much play if any is acceptable for the transmission tail shaft yoke? (4 speed) I can wiggle mine around a bit.

Very little, but there is always some play, up/down.
Normally, if you can actually feel it move, then it may be too much. If all you can do is see some play, then it's probably OK.
If the seal is leaking, and there is play, then there may be too much. The play could be only in the yoke itself(wear), in the tail-housing bushing, or both.
