T 5 Trany conversion to a C3

Vette(s): I had a 1980 for about 10 yrs it was completly modified and restored sold it, its has bin 3 yrs since i have had one finally got another one just gitting started on it , black 1979 l48
I had my 700R4 in my 1980, now i want a 5 speed C3 has anyone done a conversion, please let m e know where to find the info.

Don't bother with a T-5 trans...too much trouble for a trans that probably won't hold up to the task.

Lots of folks here have used the Tremec unit from TKO...might give that a look-see.
Do a search on the subject in this forum...you'll see quite a few threads/posts on the 5/6speed conversions.

Mike, I changed from a factory 1976 4 speed to a Tremec 5 speed. Check out the web site. I'm very happy with the change..Send me a PM with your address and I'll send you the Installation Instructions for 1968-1982 Corvettes..Terry

Hi Mike, I used Kiesler 5spd and just installed a hydaulic clutch. With your removeable cross member it is a lot easier. If you need help, PM me or Terry. Good Luck, Dick

Thanks for the offer,i  might take you up on your offer,havent made up my mind yet,its hard to git away from your roots ,i have bin a aviation mechanic most of my life.  Thanks a bunch
