Sounds like it may be the posi-plates chattering. If you do not have GM posi lube and GM posi lube additive in the differential, change it. Tons of posts on this on the Corvette Forum. Just do a search.

I agree, you should drain and refil the rear with GM lube and posi additive. Put additive in first and top off with lube. Then drive slow in "figure 8' s" forward and reverse to lube the posi clutches.
