steering valve help

I am in the process of replacing the steering valve, forgot to mark the location of the hoses, does anyone have a diagram as to if the top hose goes to the top of the cylinder or the bottm??
also the company I purchased from said the unit has already been centered, does that mean I do not have to adjust, and do I just replace the new with the old??

Im trying to remember (mine is at boat shop for some fiberglass work)

the pump lines goto the top of the valve.. they only fit one way.. one is smaller with fitting on both ends and is high pressure one larger with fitting only on valve end and it is low pressure..

Just replaced mine and the top hose from the cylinder goes to the bottom position on the control valve and vise versa.
The lines on top of the control valve are different sizes so that should be self explanatory.
I think when he says the valve is centered he means that you shouldn't have to do any any adjusting for the turning force....The left and right turning forces should be equal. It's pretty simple to adjust however.
One thing I am struggling with is when I finished I had my steering wheel slightly offcenter. Make sure the valve stud is in the same place as the old one or that you don't move the Pitman arm. I think that when I put the new control valve on I needed to go one more turn on the control valve to align everything the way it was.
The good news is that I am now leak free....Good luck and let me know how it goes.
