Speed bleeders

I Have Brakes!!
Today I installed the new O-ring calipers with stainless braided brake hoses and new pads. I also purchased speed bleeders (they have a little check valve built into them)and installed them. I have bled these brakes many times in the past working alone with mixed results. I am happy to say that these little bleeders are well worth the money, I had the brakes flushed and bled in 20 minutes. I plan to flush the fluid in the fall to rid the system of the moisture and these will make a fast and easy job of it. The brakes have been a real pain on this car but I am hopeful these updates will do the trick.

Where did you get the bleeders and how much were they ( other people may be interested in buying a set ).

I bought these speed bleeders from Eckler's for 14.99 a pair and you need three pairs for a total of 44.97 plus shipping. I am told that you can get better prices than at Eckler's if you shop around. They sure do make the bleeding process a much easier job.
I decieded to stay with the DOT 3 fluid and I plan to flush in the fall before I put the car away for the winter. They are worth the money especially if you plan to add flushing to your winterizing/maintainance list. You really need to get that moisture out of the system.

Also found a link to a make-it-yourself pressure bleeder that looks like I'll spend my birthday money on...!!! It's at the end of the thread 'bleeding brakes.'.

Autozone carries them for around $8.50 a pair. I bought two sets from Zip ($15) before I checked at the parts store. So now I have all six and feeling a little silly.

I bought mine directly from the speed bleeder website. Really nice people, even gave me a call to verify the order. The bleeders work really fine. I also found the speed bleeders in "Advance auto" for around 1/2 the price I paid for them. Looks as if they are becoming a popular item for people that like to do their own car repairs.

Just read about the bleeder valves you were talking about. I had bought some at O'Reilly's and they were the one person bleeding kind. Haven't used them yet, because I didn't know how they would work. After reading your article I'm going to give them a try. They were $12 for a set of 2.

Anyway I'm fifing to change the rear right caliper and master cylinder and see if I can get some brakes to work on my wife's 1979.
