My Cousin has an 81(as do I). I asking as long as I'll be in Carlisle if he needs anything, let me know. Turns out he needs a spare tire and wheel as his are missing. He bought one from a 78 or 79 vette. The gentleman who he bought it from said it would fit his car. It does not, it rubs.

So are my questions, is there a difference in spare sizes, what size should he look for, did the guy sell him the wrong tire/wheel. I'm guessing the latter.
Some background, my cousin knows his way around a toolbox, he's an industrial mechanic.
oops I forgot to mention, I told him to join us!...come on John, join the best vette forum on the web!

Yeah, I know, Shut up Dave.

Mine too was missing a spare when I got it. (Funny, had the jack but no spare, go figure.) Anyways, I just bought a matching rally wheel and tire off ebay.

For whatever it's worth, I still have the original spare tire for my '80.
It is a Goodyear, size P195/80D15. It says "TEMP ONLY", "50 MPH MAX", and "POLYSPARE" on the sidewall.
Hope that helps.
Chuck
