A while back I happened across a thread on another vette site where one person told another not to use a spindle press to remove his spindles. He did not say why, but now I know why. At the time I thought, "what a dope", why would they make the tool if it was not a good idea to use it? When I got ready to replace the rear wheel bearings on my vette I searched ebay until I found a spindle press which I got for 60 bucks. As soon as it arived, I began taking apart my spindles. The tool made it relatively easy to get the spindles out. I replaced the bearings and reassembled the trailing arms. Then I found out why this person recommended not using the press. It bent my caliper mounting brackets so bad that I can not get my calipers back on. Now I have take it all apart again and put new brackets on. DAMMIT!!!
