Should a 4 speed transmission slip yoke be greased or lubed before inserting back into existing transmission ? (splines or shaft).....Thanks

Vette(s): 1972 Coupe; 350 4-speed with GM sidepipes; Classic White/Saddle
Yes. Lightly. Inside (splines) and out (shaft).

Use 90w gear oil or wheel bearing grease. DO NOT USE CHASSIS GREASE. |no-no| The heat generated by a gearbox is more than chassis lube can handle.
