Anybody have any thoughts on the Slick 50 transmission fluid for high mileage cars? Would I be just as well off with "regular" fluid? Would the Slick 50 product be harmful? Thanks

ANY friction modifier is bad for any transmission.   Slick 50 is a friction modifier for engines, but not for transmissions.  It should not cause any harm.   I would perfer TransMedic for an automatic additive, but in reality I prefer to just keep the trans serviced with good fluid and a clean filter, and keep it at that.

Here's da thing...if the trans is iffy to begin with, nothing you can put in it is gonna save it.
Stick with a regular type fluid for normal service, even in a high milage vehicle.
Ya start puttin all these newfangled "snake-oil" products in an older(unserviced) unit, and yer jest axin fer trouble.

Thanks guys. I suspected that was the case - I'm not a mechanic or terribly experienced "car guy", so it's nice to here it from folks with more experience than I have.
