I plan to upgrade to the fiberglass monospring and new shocks this spring. I need advice on the shock selection. I know bilsteins sre the best, but i don't want to spend the money. i saw new kyb GR2 shocks in the mid america catalog and are made especially for the mono spring, anybody
know how they are, I'm also considering monroe gas shocks, I can get the monroe for cost, any input would be appreciated.

Vette(s): 1981 - 59 Beige over Cinnebar leather. Edlebrock top end, 2200 stall w/shift kit, 3:55s, Mufflex maniback exhaust, nice stereo, 16 in AREs w/BFGs
My mechanic works on TONS of Vettes.  His overwhelming choice was the KYB gas shocks and the middle level mono spring.  I think the poundage goes 315, 340, 355.  I installed the recommended package and its night and day.  Best mod I made on my 81..

I agree.  Use the 340 lb spring and gas shocks.  We have sold KYB for years and customers are always happy with them.

I agree with the 340lb mono spring and KYB shocks.  That's what I have on mine and it rides great.     Thumbs%20Up   Clap

Vette(s): White '79 Corvette. It's a driver.
I replaced my rear spring with the stock metal spring.
Two years later I replaced my shocks with the KYBs. For the money I think they're great. I don't do any track driving or such, so the KYBs are all I wanted/needed.
Let us know what you go with.
Kevin

Has anyone purchased the mono spring from VBP(vette brakes & products), or are they all the same, mid america has a good price of $319
and vpd  is $329 with 20% off, with 20% off on the kyb gr2 shocks also

I ordered a 340 TRW srping from an Ebay dealer for around $250 plus shipping. Drop shipped straight from the mfr . It's the real deal, no gimmicks. I'll see if I can find the dealer and post the link.

Paul did you find the dealers link for the spring.  Did you also go with the gas shocks, if so which ones. Did you do the installation, and how hard was it??
