Well, being 23 I'm a little behind the carb generation, so my 79 has been a learning experience as I'm used to working on EFI. Anyway, since I purchased the car it has run like crap until it gets to 185, I always had to 2 foot it until it warmed up or it would die.

I FINALLY figured out why. The electric choke was completely out of adjustment. I set it to be about 1/8" open when fully cold and sure enough, now it runs like a dream at all temperatures.

I'm sure you guys would have known about this, but it took me 7 months to figure it out haha. Anyway, on to the next project, installing AC!

little older than you but my problem is opposite. im used to the carbs and now am learning fuel injection for my 90.  even though its learn as you go, the one thing to remember is that you can usually get answers to your questions right here. whether its my 75 or 90, i have always found someone willing to share their knowledge and help.Thumbs%20Up

Vette(s): 74 coupe 4 speed 350, 54K actual miles, all original; paint, interior, engine, split bumper. #'s match. 2nd owner, no stress cracks.
defseqx,  glad you got it figured out and thanks for info.  Those automatic chokes can be nasty little critters..  I once had a Dodge, never did get the automatic choke to work right, so I put in an old fashion manual choke.

Chokes can be tricky even for old guys like me so don't feel bad about it taking so long. Hell, the fact that you fixed it is quite an accomplishment.
Good job.
