Replaced, calipers, pads, hoses, most steel tubing and master cylinder.  Brakes work well, but left front rotor seemed out of round.  No braking problem, but pad noise with the out of round rotor.

Well, I drilled the rivets out and replaced the front rotors and pads.  100 miles of driving and the left front rotor is just  about .010 out so I shimmed it with on washer on one stud and it seemed to work, just a slight run out and very little noise.

Is this normal?

Where can you buy shims?

MK, I made a square shim for under one of the studs from roofing flange materterial, about .010.  I did not think aluminum was strong enough for shimming rotors?  I am going to reshim the rotor this week and test it before winter storage.

Brass shim stock, which is highly recommended for this, can usually be found at some hobby shops. I agree about the 'lumnium...while it shouldn't be an issue if the wheels are tight, we all know that eventually, that chunk of 'lumnium is gonna disintegrate! The rotors will move about on the hubs, especially since the rivets are now gone,
Using shims on the hub/rotor surface is fine...folks have been doing it for ages.

Some Auto Parts stores will have Shim Stock but most any Bearing House will have it. Might also try an Idustrial Supply Store. Richard...

Gale,  That engine, wow.

Hey, the rubber looks like C4 wheels, was it worth the effort and what did you have to do get them on and under the car.

I originaly Installed the 88 17" Wheels on my 80' in 1989. Back then I was Told it would never work and I had to Machine my own Spacers. Now VB&P has them and they are well made. Putting the Standard 9.5" Wheel on is not that Difficult but putting the ZR-1  11" ones are a Bare. Figure on Offset Trailing arms for Sure. Richard....
