My rag joint is beginning to tear. Repair with a kit, or replace?
I suppose the old studs have to be ground off to install a repair kit? If replacing the whole lower coupling, is there a preferred source for OEM replicas?
Thanks,
Kevin

Use a kit 'cause you'll get everything to do the job properly.

Well I decided to go the safe route and get the OEM from gmpartsdirect.com. Can go wrong there.

Just FYI for any other/future seekers: I don't recall the price now, and I don't know how far back individual factory parts are still available, but within the last year I ordered an OEM rag joint replacement for our '78 from the local GM dealer.

Good Choice - just replaced mine when I replaced the steering box. The complete joint is so much better than the kit.
