Vette(s): 1974 Roadster being restored now!
I'm really comfortable with changing out carbs, intake manifolds, all the accessories of the engine, but I've never opened up the heads or gone inside the block. I found a guy here who's doing 3yr/36k warranty for $1,300 and I know I can handle the install myself... Maybe I can customize something with him, and just have him do all the internals and leave the outside stuff for me...

But right now I'm still trying to figure out if I really need a rebuild.

If I drive over a certain amount of RPMS (3k) it starts making a repetitive thunking sound. No smoking, low power, just that really loud repetitive knocking/thunking sound. I'm heading out to my garage right now to record it...

I'll see how I can digitally transfer it onto here... time to pull out the old laptop.

Allrighty, got it, BUT oopsie, I posted it under a new thread called "Engine Noise, can you decipher it?"

Check that out
