My left rear caliper is dragging/sticking/squealing. I'm not ready to replace all with SS yet, and I've never rebuilt one. Is it much different basically from rebuilding brake cylinders? Any pointers? Thanks longhorn29438660.9262384259

I wouldn't bother. The original non-sleeved calipers are prone to pitting and wear. If saving the originals is important to you, send them to Muskegon Brake and they will sleeve them and send them back better then new. Otherwise, just get core exchange units.

I'm with Fish here, I've tried rebuilding calipers in the past and didn't have a lot of success.

When I was in Bowling Green last month for C3X, I had both front calipers replaced. By the time I got home (735 miles), my right front caliper was leaking. I called the place that did the work in B.G. and they sent a new one (from O'Rielly's). Putting it on Monday and sending the old one back COD. I hope the new one doesn't leak.

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

I have rebuilt many calipers on many cars.  But now the price of the remans is low enough, it's no longer work the work and expense.

I got mine with SS sleeves at Autozone for 61. ea.  Lifetime warranty.

With the ones from Autozone they come already SS sleeved and if they ever start leaking, like one of mine did, you can add the Vette Brakes O-ring kit to the calipers. Since I have done this, they have not leaked a drop and I have not had to touch the brakes again. I always have a good pedal also. Just an idea.
BTW, the O-ring kit for all four calipers is about, $100 and installing the kit is a straight forward operation.

I picked up both rears at  Autozone too. $54.99 and delco casings wasn't bad. Anyone remember where that post was on bulding a pressure bleeder?

Nevermind...I found the homemade bleeder post by Eddie 70 but the picture doesn't come up now, wonder why? 'A picture is worth a thousand words', and would make it easier to build one.

I haven't used them personally, but several people swear by the speed bleeders! My brakes were done when I found out about them, but there's usually plenty of help around when the vette is in the garage!
