Rear wheel bearings

Thanks Glenn, I hadn't seen that link before and it just reinforces what I was going to do anyway. All I have to do is get a set up tool made and I should be good to go.

Mine will be a bit easier now I have the trailing arms out so I can use a press rather than an installation tool.

I was looking through an Ecklers catalog last night ,looking at some trailing arm bushings,at the bottom of the advertisement it said no need to remove trailing arm from car.any body seen or heard of these ?who are they trying to kid ?

Ron, I'm guessing those are a two piece bushing. One half slides in from each side. The are does not need removed, but does need disconnected at the bushing. I have seen thing like this before. If that's what it is, they do work, but they are not usually as strong or as durable. Those could be the exception, but I sight unseen, I doubt it.

Well, got it all apart now. Training arm bushes are in really good condition so won't bother with them. Most park brake parts are shot other than the shoes.

Bad news is the RH spindle, all threads are totally *#@ked. Looks like I've got to get a new one. Sourced some parts in Australia and they want $AU450 for a spindle!

Got on to ZIP website and I can get the spindle, shims and park brake SS hardware for $US250. Even if I'm charged $100 for shipping, the price works out better.

Will let you all know how the finshed product ends up.

Well my parts are in Oz.

Cost me $466 Oz from Corvette Central for a spindle, park brake hardware kit and rear bearing shim kit (including shipping). All the stuff I can't get in Australia.

I thought great a good price. Then Customs hit me for $139.90 import duty! I'm gonna fight this one. Don't taxes suck?!

Chips58, Could you bypass some of the taxes if one of us buys the parts for you and ships them as a "gift"?
