rear sway bar question

Hello all,
I am thinking about installing a rear sway bar in my car. I would like to do a little road racing this summer and though I might need it. My car's set-up is mostly stock. 1969 convertible. 350-300, wide ratio 4-speed, poly bushings all around, stock front springs, fiberglass rear spring 330#. The front sway bar is 7/8" I believe. Any suggestions as to what might be needed in back?

I put a 3/4 inch rear sway bar from Vette Brakes+
Products in my 78 with a 360lb glass spring.
Easy installation and the car stays real flat
in a hard corner. Their good handeling package
comes with a 3/4 rear bar and a 1+1/8 front bar
so thats what I went with. Have fun!

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if there is a connection between front bar diameter to rear bar diameter to the stiffness of the fiberglass spring?

Talk to any of the suppliers about installing a rear sway bar and they will ask you first if you have a sway bar on front already , and if so what size? There is definitely a correlation between sizing from front to back.

I suggest you call either VB&P or Eckler's or Bair's and see what they have to say, especially if you dont plan to change the front sway bar.

I've got the 330# fiberglass spring in mine also. No rear sway bar yet, but have thought about it. Just not sure I need it as I tend to pamper the Vette rather than prove it.

Looking at the handeling kits that are offered ,they
recomend bigger than stock sway bars, but also much
heaver springs. You need to get the catalogs,look at
the options, and decide what you want your car to do!
My car is a Sunday-go crusin , rip up some ramps car,
1000 miles a year of 4 wheel valium! Do some catalog
reasearch and pick some parts.Your car has low bucks

Even if your car is a easy daily driver you WILL
notice a difference with a rear swaw bar.Its an easy
installation! Even though your car didn't come with
a rear sway bar option, the rear frame probably has
the taped holes to mount one-God bless Chevrolet-
they gave you stuff to work with! Happy motoring!

Thanks for the info. My car is very similiar to yours. Mostly sunny summer days. I'm always looking for little things that will improve it but keep it as stock as possible. I noticed a huge difference when I installed the front bushings. I'm probably going to wait until I finish the rear ones and then see what the handling is like.
Also, unlike you, I'm starting a family. I have a beautiful 15 month old daughter (who just loves the car) and a great (understanding & patient) wife who wants another!! I have to watch the spending!

Thanks for the info. I'll see what they reccomend for the rear with a stock front bar.

Another child or another 'baby' (aka Vette)...!!!

Another child.....she may be a great wife but even she has her limits with my amount of "toys".
