My rear spring cushions need replacing on my 69. Best way? Jack placement?

Jack placement as close to the end of the spring as possible, and still be able to remove the nut/bolt from the spring. Use vice-grips, or a good C-clamp to the inside of the jack, to keep it from slipping off of the spring.

I also placed pieces of plywood between jack and spring, used Visegrips to hold the wood and that held the jack in place also. You don't have to jack it up very high, just enough to release the tenson. I do have a fiberglass spring though.

Please be very careful!  You could loose a finger or two or even break a limb.  Replace the bushings with Polyurethane ones.  There is less distrotion and they will last much longer.
