Rear Spring Clean-up

I have the rear spring out of my 81. What's a good way to do a cosmetic clean-up of the fiberglass spring? Thanks.

I've never done it, but I would look for whatever cleaning agents, paints, etc., that are for marine use. Anything that can hold up to salt water use should be able to handle the crud that splashes up under the car. I'm also assuming this car is a driver, not concours.

It is a driver. I'm just not sure if solvent - like mineral spirits - does anything bad to the fiberglass spring.

Most solvents won't hurt fiberglass. Mineral spirts are okay. Fiberglass will hold any petrolum product, so those solvents can be used. Any thing designed to clean ceramics is also okay. Brake parts cleaner and Carb cleaner are okay. Just don't use abrasives. That scratches the surface and slightly weakens the surface of the spring. Minor for sure, but not advisable.
