Dang, Jimmy....you just don't know yer own strength!

I haven't a clue about the size or thread on those nuts. I'll look and see if I can find the data somewhere, tho. Hopefully someone here might have one laying around they can check, tho...

The rear spindle nut is 3/4"-20. If you try to find one in a hardware store, you'll be lookin' a looong time. Hopefully, you didn't damage the threads on the spindle. Several Vette catalogs carry parts such as the spimdle nuts. Look up Bairs or RIKS or ZIP. I know they carry 'em. Good luck.

Hey yeah, you're right! I just assumed it was for his C3, since this is the C3 site.

Thanks! yeah its a 3/4 x 20.... and it is on the C3('78 model)....  Don't think the threads on the spindle are messed up, and yeah, the local hardware store guy just looked at me funny when i went to the counter and asked "You have a 3/4 by 20 tpi castle nut?"  he just looked at me and said "Never heard of it."...  soooo off to the catalog, oh well, been apart now for 5 months(maybe 6...thought i had a bad bearing, i did, however it was a u-joint, not a wheel bearing, but on the plus side, i got new bearing on that side now.. :)), guess another week won't hurt :)

Guess maybe there should be a prize involved, after-all i did stump Joel... :)  and, i'll skip the Wheaties when i put it back together,  oh and the can of spinach too..  (i am whats i am)

Jim, I assume by the work you're doing that you are pretty well recovered. That's great. The reason I know the nut thread size is that I'm rebuilding my suspension, front and rear. I also purchased a thread chaser set for a couple of those rare sizes, such as the 3/4-20. And while doing the rebuild, I'm recording all the nut and bolt sizes to my shop manual. WHy? That's just something I do. Good luck in your venture. -------------Rick J
